DTI’s “Fish-ta sa Nayon” showcases Cam Sur’s finest marine products

NAGA CITY, May 13 (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Camarines Sur provincial office has launched yesterday a specialized public fair at the Naga Land E-Mall here, showcasing the province’s premium marine products. .

Dubbed “FISH-ta Sa Nayon, atbp: A Product Launching of Processed Marine Food Products,” the event that  will run from May 12-15 endeavors to continuously improve and help micro and small entrepreneurs in the fishing industry in the Bicol Region, particularly in Camarines Sur.

DTI Camarines Sur provincial head Edna Tejada said that the activity was also made possible through the help of other agencies who have the same objective of uplifting the lives of families whose livelihood sources are dependent on the sea.

“This marketing activity is organized by DTI where we see to it that good manufacturing practices are followed to ensure high quality of fish products are produced, and that buyers are assured of superior quality as compared to those available in the market because the production of these products are clean.”

Around nine individual and group entrepreneurs coming from the coastal municipalities of Calabanga, Gainza, Cabusao, Bombon, Del Gallego, and Naga City participated in the said fair. Featured products include ready-to-eat “tinapa” (smoked fish) from Naga City, bottled and powdered “dinaelan” (shrimp paste) and shrimp chips from Cabusao, crab paste from Gainza, ‘hibe” (dried shrimp) from Bombon, assorted dried fish from Calabanga, and ready-to-cook fish products all sourced out in Camarines Sur.

According to DTI Camarines Sur Senior Trade Industry Development specialist Lilibyl B. Fuentebella, products featured at the fair are guaranteed clean and safe because the primary processing is done at the common service facility (CSF) provided by the Local Government and the processing facility under the Shared Service Facility (SSF) provided by the DTI.

Customers are assured that the products are safe, well-packed, hygienic and properly labeled since DTI installed vacuum packaging equipment at the Naga City People’s Mall.

From this launch, these products and entrepreneurs will be part of the bigger event of DTI in the coming “Orgullo Bicol” which will be held in October 2016 at SM Mega Hall, Mandaluyong City. (MAL/LSM/JRM-PIA5/Camarines Sur)
