BY: ANA-LIZA S. MACATANGAY

NAGA CITY, Nov.13 (PIA)---  Gawad Kalinga-Camarines Sur (GK-CamSur)  in its effort to reach out to the survivors of Typhoon Yolanda has sought the partnership of the local government unit in this city and other private organizations during the launching of Operation Walang Iwanan! here yesterday.

GK-Cam Sur provincial head Harry Azaña said that this is an opportune time to work together and help our brothers in sisters who unfortunately suffered the havoc caused by super typhoon Yolanda.

“There is an immediate need to deliver the goods, particularly food packs, water and used clothing to the survivors of TS Yolanda in Samar and Leyte, thus this campaign to call on all Bicolanos to support this cause, donate whatever they have in excess or what they can share to those people who have nothing in their hands now but hope,” Azana said during yesterday’s press conference.

GK Camarines Sur’s project immediately gained the nod of Mayor John Bongat of this city the Camarines Sur 3rd District Rep. Ma. Leonor Gerona-Robredo, along with the Philippine Coast Guard and LBC Express which vowed commitment to pool their resources for the people of Samar and Leyte.

LBC Express South East Luzon area head Lito Laraya said that they will be providing free transport of goods and will solicit other donations from all their branches nationwide and will turn over them to OPLAN Walang Iwanan centers for delivery.

Azana said that a ten-wheeler truck is set to leave on November 19, Tuesday to deliver the collected donation.

Naga City Vice-Mayor Nelson Legacion, representing the Sangguniang Panglungsod lauded the active participation of private organizations and individuals in joining their hands in this endeavor.

“The extent of damage and the loss of lives that we have seen on television is more than enough to move us together in one direction of helping our brothers in Samar and Leyte and in other areas devastated by TS Yolanda. When we convene in our next session, we will submit a resolution giving Mayor Bongat the authority to allocate part of the city’s calamity fund and donate it to the typhoon survivors,” Legacion added.

GK Camarines Sur Coordinator Eric Salvino said that they are targeting at least 7,500 food packs to be delivered in Samar and Leyte on Tuesday.

The team is appealing for specific donations like food, rice, canned goods, bottled water and noodles, including used clothing.

The Operation Walang Iwanan Donation Center will be at the Barangay Hall of Barangay Tabuco in Naga City while repacking of goods will be done at the Tabuco Elementary School, just beside the Barangay Hall.  For inquiries, Tabuco Barangay Hall’s hotline is (054) 478-2660 or they may get in touch with Mr. Eric Salvino at cp number # 09178665423.
