LEGAZPI CITY, Sept. 9 (PIA) -- The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Bicol released two of its best kept assets during the opening ceremonies of the inter-agency sportsfest in celebration of the 113th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary in the entire month of September.

Jail Officers Cristel Salivio and Glen Banda bested other contenders for the title Mr. and Ms. Civil Service for the year 2013 to highlight the monthlong observance of the said activity with this year’s theme, Tatak Lingkod Bayani: Isabuhay, Ipagmalaki at Ipagbunyi.

“I joined the pageant as an expression of the BJMP’s effort to change impression on our agency as male-dominated institution,” Salivio said. Both Banda and Salivio credited the rigorous BJMP training as sufficient preparation for the search. “It imparted to us the values of discipline and we gained confidence in dealing with people,” Banda said.

“BJMP is not just an institution for incarceration but rather for rehabilitation,” Salivio added.

Also declare as Ms. Civil Service first runner up is Shiela Rebustillo of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and Jester John Llaguno of Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) as first runner up for the 2013 Mr. Civil Service title.
