BFAR, all set for the 1st Bicol Aqua Fair

NAGA CITY, Sept. 6 (PIA) --- Its all systems go for the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Bicol for the opening of the Bishop Francisco Gainza Trade Fair (BFGTF) on September 12 here that will showcase BFAR’s mairine products coming from almost all regional offices in the country.

The eleven-day event will feauture various aquatic products like fish, lobsters, shrimps, milkfish and fishery products from RFFC, Fabrica, Bula and Mercedes Pilot Fish Processing Plant. Aside from the fresh produce,

BFAR will also sell processed and frozen sea and other aquatic foods.

BFAR willl also conduct free seminars in the activity center including post-harvesttechnology,culture of fish, seaweds, shrimp and mudcrab as well as introduce organic aquaculture. Discussants are expected to talk on the agency’s committment on the conservation, protection and rehabilitation of natural resources and increasing the percentage of coastal and marine areas significant for biodiversity as stated in the Philippine Develoment Plan 2011-2016 of President Benigno Aquino III.

Eighty (80) exhibitors, half of which will be occupied by BFAR, have already committted their participation in the entire duration of the event. They will stay in an aircon tent which will contain the activity center and the respective booths of s participating agencies, organizations and other business entities. Aside from the tangible products, there will also be a showcase of organic and natural products, health and wellness service.

Visitors can also have a chance to buy fashion acccessories, handicrafts, souvenir and religious items, furniture & furnishings,agricultural produce and ornamental plants. There will also booth that will offer their services in franchising, direct selling, real estate insurance, tools and equipment.

BFGTF will be spearheaded by the Archdiocese of Caceres through the Caceres Social Foundation, Inc. It aims to give opportunity, not just to the big names in the industry but also newbies and aspiring entreprenuers who want to venture in business.

The event will also showcase the significant role of entrepreneurship in alleviating poverty in the countryside. It also endeavors to strengthened Public-private partnership by encouraging the participation of government agencies, private institutions and individual stakeholders to promote the economy while giving them various opportunities to improve their lives.

This year’s theme::“Linalang kan Diyos Atamanon, Negosyong Matanos Patalubuon, Maimbod na Pagtubod Padanayon” which means that creations of God should be well taken cared of, promote fair business and dealings while growing in faith, intends to offer a wholistic approach in bringing in business oppportunity without sacrificing one’s moral obligations.

The annual holding of BFGTF was inspired by Bishop Francisco Escobas Gainza, O.P. then the Bishop of the Diocese of Caceres  who is instrumental in conducting the First Agro-Industrial Fair in Bicol Region in 1875. (LSM-PIA5/Camarines Sur)
