Pacific Partnership 2016 mission in Albay in full swing

LEGAZPI CITY, June 29 (PIA) – The third day of the Pacific Partnership 2016 mission is now in full swing covering the different activities as the day’s morning engagements were early on in several sites and venues.

Interviews and promotion of upcoming “Band Engagements” were done at the Legazpi Boulevard here with the iconic Mayon Volcano and the distinctive USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) on the blue waters of Albay Gulf as its background.

The band came prepared with a variety of music that would surely attract the Albayano’s to watch and be part of the mini concert slated in three venues and dates, BU Soccer Field Area on June 30, July 02 in Albay Astrodome where a showdown between the PACFLEET Band and SOLCOM Band would be witnessed, and the last performance at the Peñaranda Park on July 06.

All shows will be from 3:00-5:00 in the afternoon and is open to the public. Accordingly, the ENCAP sites are progressing each day with a completed project in Mabini, Daraga Albay.

The partnership between the 565 ECB, PA and the USN Sea Bees Engineering team completed the overhead water tank, hand washing stations and lavatories way ahead of schedule enabling both teams to fast-track construction in the other two sites for the scheduled blessing and ribbon-cutting.

Capt. Tom Williams headed of to Comun, Kinawitan and Mabini Elementary Schools earlier to personally visit the area and ensure its completion.

Trainings and seminars carried on the second day with the Basic First Responders Course at the Sea Port Terminal with a total of 33 participants and handled by Filipino SME, USN and Australian Navy personnel.

Surgical Screening was also resumed this morning at the BRTTH-OPD for candidate patients to be treated on board USNS Mercy as well as Pediatric SMEE at the Salceda Wing of the regional Hospital.

Cooperative Health Engagement, VETCAP and SMEE’s were also undertaken at the Ligao West Elementary School with CAPT PETER ROBERTS, MTF CO making his visit at the venues.

Barangay Tamaoyan was also venue for CHE facilitated by AFP and USN elements. The activity brought cheers and praises from the residents numbering a total of 350 men, women and children through endless interactions and fun games.

Pacific Partnership 2016 will be until July 10, 2016 after which they will be headed to Vietnam for their visit and continued partnership in the country. (MAL/MajANBuan-JTFPP16/PIA5/Albay)
