PNP Bicol reaffirms support to end violence vs. women

LEGAZPI CITY, Mar 29 (PIA) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) Bicol egional office has renewed its commitment to uphold the rights of women as the newly elected officers of the all-male advocacy group Men Opposed to Violence against Women Everywhere (MOVE) were sworn into office Monday this week.

PNP Bicol head C/Supt. Augusto M. Marquez led the oath taking of the new set of officers of the MOVE.

PNP Bicol spokesperson S/Insp. Maria Luisa Calubaquib said the group has been long organized in the region with this year’s oath of office was done this month in time for the celebration of the women’s month.

Part of their vows as MOVE members are to be at the forefront of the campaign to eliminate violence against women (VAW) be it physical, psychological or other aspects, be at the forefront of gender advocacy and help in the establishment of MOVE from the regional level down to the provincial, city and municipal levels.

The new set of officers are Supt. Nonito Marquez of the Sorsogon Police Provincial Office (PPO) as president; Supt. Wilmor Halamani of the Police Community Relations Office of Camarines Norte PPO, vice president; SPO4 Marcos Bea of PRO5, secretary; SPO2 Tobias Bongon III of Naga City Police Station, assistant secretary; non-commissioned personnel Reggiemar Doctolero of Talisay MPS, treasurer; PO3 Josephus Ramos, assistant treasurer; and Insp. Jhon Verlano, auditor.

The public relations officers representing their respective PPOs are SPO4 Pepito De Los Reyes, Albay PPO: PO1 Brian Aceron, Camarines Norte PPO; SPO1 Ely Langitan, Camarines Sur PPO; SPO4 Juanito Tevar, Catanduanes PPO; PO1 Romeo Bislumbre, Masbate PPO; SPO2 Tomas Haloc, Sorsogon PPO; SPO2 Noel Dennis Ajero, Naga City PS; and Insp. Uldrick Tilos, 5th Regional Publice Safety Battalion.

Calubaquib said under PNP Bicol Chief Marquez, the group was institutionalized as part of the program of PRO5 Police Community Relations Division which conducted a seminar-workshop starting March 17 for police officers coming from PPOs, CPS and MPS.
