By Ana-Liza S. Macatangay

PILI, Camarines Sur, March 29 (PIA) --- Out of 1,063 barangays in Camarines Sur, Palestina ranked first among this municipality’s villagess complied with good financial housekeeping as evidenced by its level of compliance to the Full Disclosure Policy program of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) , particularly in the implementation of budget preparation, revenue generation and utilization of barangay funds.

Barangay Palestina, led by Punong Barangay Efren Amesola was also recognized by Pili Mayor Alexis San Luis for its continuous coordination and collaboration with interfaith organizations to ensure that every sector’s concerns are properly represented.

During last Saturday’s Barangay Assembly, more than a hundred barangay constituents trooped to Barangay Palestina’s Multi-purpose Hall to participate and be a part of a collective decision that the assembly will come up with.

One of the projects that was agreed upon during the assembly was the fencing of Palestina Elementary School worth P800,000.00 and construction of drainage canal along the said school which is also worth P200,000.00.  The Sangguniang Barangay will then proposed the funding worth P1M under the Barangay Bottom-Up-Budgetting (BuB) for fiscal year 2017.

Aside from implementing various projects in the barangay, Palestina has also opened its door to patients coming from neighboring barangay with the transfer of the Barangay Health Center or Rural Health Unit 2 from Barangay Cadlan to Palestina.  Here, they continue the monthly immunization, operation timbang, deworming and distribution of vitamins, pre-natal check-up and other related health services.

Last year, the barangay council passed a total of 31 resolutions relating to the improvement of general services including one (1) tax ordinance.

P03 Eleno Calongui, who represented Philippine National Police (PNP) Pili Municipal Chief Chito Oyardo also reported the PNP’s accomplishments for their Oplan Lambat Sibat, particularly their campaign against illegal drugs.

Hon. Michael Burce also reiterated that they have strengthened their Barangay Anti- Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) as instructed by Amesola pursuant to the latest DILG Memorandum Circular revitalizing the C/M/BADAC.

In a letter from SILG Mel Senen Sarmiento which was read by Madrideo, the official spoke of the virtuous effects of President Benigno Aquino’s Tuwid Na Daan in creating a government where funding are judiciously put in place and where reforms are prudently implemented.  (MAL/LSM-PIA5/Camarines Sur)
