DTI Albay holds forum on consumer laws for motorcycle dealers


LEGAZPI CITY, Aug 19 (PIA) – The Consumer Welfare and Business Regulation Division of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Albay provincial office recently conducted the forum on consumer laws for motorcycle dealers at the DTI Albay conference room with some 21 motorcycle  business owners and dealers.

DTI Albay director Rodrigo M. Aguilar informed the participants on the department’s mandate to promote business and protect consumers reminding them to comply with the requirements of various agencies for motorcycle registration to avoid violations and administrative penalties.

He also encouraged the attendees to cooperate and join hands with the DTI and concerned agencies such as the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Highway Patrol Group (HPG) to minimize consumer complaints.

Joseph L. Rañola of DTI Bicol tackled the Consumer Act of the Philippines and amplified the provisions on warranty and unconscionable sales act and practices.

Dennis L. Loria of LTO Bicol also imparted steps and requirements for motorcycle registration while SPO1 Valentin G. Barba of HPG in the region provided participants with different forms and procedures in securing motorcycle cflearance from their office.

Barba also gave some tips on how to avoid carnapping and motornapping.

During the open forum, the participants raised questions relative to the conduct of their business operations. Some procedures and requirements to facilitate release of registration papers were also clarified.

At the end of the activity, the participants expressed their appreciation for the topics presented and agreed to cooperate with the various agencies for protection and satisfaction of the customers.(MAL/SAA/DTI5/PIA5/Albay)
