LEGAZPI CITY, Jan 27 (PIA) -- The Department of Health (DOH) holds today a press conference for this year’s celebration of Goiter Awareness Week hosted by the province of Albay as part of the health advocacy and interventions done in consonance with the government’s effort to enable the country to be free from iodine deficiency disorders. This year’s theme “Goiter Sugpuin, Isip Patalinuhin, Iodized Salt Gamitin” is geared towards assessment of pregnant and lactating women for the presence of goiter. In the panel are representatives of the local government of Albay, iodized salt manufacturers, DOH and Philippine Thyroid Association. (SAA/JBC-PIA5/Albay)
