80-bed private hospital to rise in Virac

Virac, Catanduanes, Apr 1(PIA) -- An 80-bed private hospital that will cost P300 million will sone rise in this municipality to cater to the health and medical needs of the constitutents.

The Catanduanes Doctors Hospital Inc. (CDHI), a corporation set up by local doctors and investors, will build the level II health Care Facility of barangay Valencia, Virac under the leadership of CDHI and Chief executive Officer Raymund M. Taopa.

In his message during a short program before the groundbreaking, Taopa said that the hospital will boast the availability of a state of the art hospital equipment such as a top of the line Ultrasound, 16-slice CT (Computed Tomography) Scan, digital X-ray, Level 3 Diagnostic laboratory, Completely set up Intensive care Unit (ICU) and other facilities so that people from Catanduanes would no longer go to the mainland to avail of such services.

Taopa added that along with doctors who are experts in their fields, the hospital will address the gaps in existing health services in the island in terms of hospital beds as well as pioneer medical tourism in Bicol region.

The CDHI manifests commitment to excellent health care and desire to leave a legacy for the people of the island, and once completed the hospital will provide more than 100 jobs and encourage related services in the area.

Bishop Manolo A. De los Santos of the Diocese of Virac led the blessing of the site while CDHI officials and members led by Taopa, Catanduanes Congressmen Cesar V.  Sarmiento, DBP RMC Bicol Head VP Abelardo Monarquia, DPB Virac Branch Manager Tranquilino Lasala and other DBP Regional Officials led the groundbreaking Ceremony on March 18, 2016.  (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
