Naga City opens applications for City Youth Official program

By Ana-Liza S. Macatangay

NAGA CITY, Feb.23 (PIA) --- The city government here, in its continuous pursuit to engage the youth in various governance aspects and introduce them to the many facets of leadership, has opened application for all bona fide youth to be part of the newest batch of City Youth Officials 2016.

The invitation for the posts in the City Youth Officials and literally allowing them to have a hands-on experience in managing the city affairs either as an elective local official or as department head, stemmed from the inspiration left by the late SILG Jesse M. Robredo when he was still holding the reign of governance as city mayor.

Reaping the good fruits as a result of the said initiative, City Councilor Ray-An Cydrick G. Rentoy sponsored Ordinance No. 2012-035 otherwise known as Naga City Youth Code, complementing an earlier regulation, Ordinance No. 2007-008, an ordinance institutionalizing the Naga City Youth Officials program.

The City Youth Officials once selected are expected to attend the regular session and will be allowed to participate in the policy-making process. They can also sponsor legislations which can contribute to the promotion of various programs concerning the environment, economic agenda, education, promotion of social welfare and related goals.

The city hall will serve as the city youth official’s training ground and is expected to promote positive youth leadership amongst them and develop them in becoming role models for others to emulate.

Interested applicants should be between 15 to 24 years old and should carry with them a certificate of good moral character attested by their school heads or barangay captain.  He or she must submit a duly accomplished bio-data with the latest 2x2 picture. Candidates must not have been a previous Naga City Youth Official.

They must be able to attend to the official functions during regular office hours.

The applicants must also present their Voter’s ID, SK or regular Voter’s ID.  For ages 15-17 years old, they must secure a certification from the Commission on Elections of their parent’s voter’s registration.

Application forms are available at Barangay Halls, at the Principal’s office for Secondary student aspirants and at the Student Affairs Office for the Tertiary level. Deadline of submission of entries is on March 10 until 5:00pm only.

For additional inquiries, applicants may contact telephone number (054)473-2051. (MAL/LSM-PIA5/Camarines Sur)
