CSC Bicol calls for youth participants to nationwide ARTA Caravan

LEGAZPI CITY, Jan. 14 (PIA) – The Civil Service Commission Bicol urges the youth in the region to be part of the Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA) Caravan to be launched on January 25-27 with the theme #KontraRedTape: Kabataan, Kaakibat sa Mahusay na Pamamahala.”

“The CSC hopes that the youth can wield the Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA) of 2007 and the social media to bring public customer service into national consciousness,” CSC Bicol information officer Lynbee Niebla said.

The ARTA Caravan will showcase frontline services offered by various government agencies and highlight the role of the youth as a potent force in curbing slow and inefficient government services.

As part of the launching of ARTA Caravan, the CSC initiated logo and poster making and short video production contests to solicit creative inputs from the youth on what constitutes good governance, anti-corruption and social accountability.

“The contests were held to instill consciousness and a sense of involvement of the public on good governance and anti-corruption initiatives of the government,” Niebla said.

The competition is open to college students nationwide. One winner per category will be chosen from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to receive cash prizes will be awarded to three cash and gift prizes.

 Deadline of submission of entries is on the midnight of January 17, 2016.

 The caravan also targets the involvement of government agencies that provide key frontline services, such as the Bureau of Internal Revenue for the application of Tax Identification Number; Department of Foreign Affair for passport applications and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation for requests of IDs and member data record.

 In partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, the ARTA Caravan will also showcase innovations of government offices which resulted in service delivery improvements. (MAL/SAA-PIA5/Albay)
