Archdiocese of Caceres, JOC members sign agreement for a peaceful and meaningful Peῆafrancia Fiesta

NAGA CITY, Sept. 10 (PIA) --- The Archdiocese of Caceres and the city government has formally signed with other member agencies of the Joint Operations Center (JOC) the Cooperation Agreement for the Peῆafrancia fiesta celebration this year in a simple ceremony held at the Archbishop’s Residence on Tuesday.

The agreement was crafted to ensure the solemn, peaceful and meaningful celebration of the Peῆafrancia fiesta commencing this Friday until next weekend to celebrate the feast of the Our Lady of Peῆafrancia, Patroness of Bicolandia.

Caceres Archbishop Rolando Octavus J. Tria-Tirona and Mayor John G. Bongat of this city led the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA witnessed by officials and representatives of different national and local government offices and private institutions that will be operational starting on the date of the signing.

Bongat said, “the actual signing of the MOA will bind each and everyone of us and our respective organizations as part of the collective effort of both the private, the government sectors and of course, the Church, for us to be able to help ourselves and one another towards effecting a solemn, meaningful fiesta celebration in honor of Our Lady of Peῆafrancia, the Patroness of Bicol.”

Before the signing ceremony, messages of solidarity were delivered by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), the 9th Infantry (Spear) Division, Philippine Army (PA), and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office V, where they expressed their renewed unwavering support and commitment to ensure the public safety, successful and peaceful celebration of the festivity.

In response, Tirona thanked all the participants and members of the JOC for their presence and messages of support, which he said were not only uplifting, but confidence-bearing since they were messages uttered of commitment, cooperation, working together, and participation. For him, the messages are the important words that will make a big event a successful one.

Tirona also lauded the cooperation, camaraderie and commitment exhibited by the various agencies to secure the city and the devotees during the biggest Marian event in the country.

“For the 3rd year that I became part of the JOC, the Gazebo of the Archbishop’s Residence is a testimony of the coming together of our network in making the festivity, not just as  successful in terms of peace and order, but pretty sure all the more successful in terms of deepening the faith of our people,” he added.
