Viga town's government employees, villages chiefs submit to drug testing

VIRAC, Catanduanes, March 12 (PIA) – Employees of local government and punong barangays in Viga Town submitted themselves to a voluntary drug testing recently to assures the constituency that public servants are trustworthy, has integrity and serve as role models to the public especially on relentless campaigns against drug abuse.

The initiative was carry out after said parties agreed to the call of Viga Mayor Gordon Olfindo proposing a vouluntary drug testing among local government employees and barangay officials.

 The test was conducted by medical representatives from Bicol Medical Center based here.

According to Olfindo, he originally filed a formal request for drug testing on 2013 at Department of Health (DOH).

He further stressed that the drug testing was voluntary which gained positive response.

Only two LGU employees were not able to provide urine samples because they are on official travel, while all punong barangay captains  have submitted to the test.

Results of the test are expected to be released two to four weeks after the conduct of drug testing. (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
