LEGAZPI CITY, Feb. 16 (PIA) -- Members of the Vision Aligned Circle (VAC 7) have drafted the proposed Legazpi City Tourism Investment Incentive Ordinance aimed at sustaining the robust tourist arrivals and improve investors’ confidence in this city.
VAC7 chairperson Asuncion Calleja, also coordinator of the city government's Business Permits and Licenses Division, said the proposed ordinance was forwarded to Mayor Noel Rosal for final review and suggestions.
The same, according to Calleja, was also earlier submitted to Councilor Alan Ranola, chair of the Committee on Trade, Industry and Investment, and Councilor Chito Baldo, chair of the Committee on Tourism to subject the provisions for committee hearing and fine-tuning.
The proposed legislation, she said, intend to help improve the city’s revenue collection and sustain its economic growth.
"It can also help generate more jobs for the city’s constituents, increase the value of local products, promote a sustainable tourism industry, much as strengthen the private-public partnership scheme between the Legazpi City administration and the private sector," she added.
Based on the draft ordinance, all newly registered enterprises will be exempted from business taxes for a period of two years while their owners will also be exempted from basic realty taxes on property improvements, buildings and machineries.
Calleja said the Business Permits and Licensing Division will also give assistance in identifying business locations and in securing local permits and licenses for investors who want to engage in business in this city.
“But if the investors will violate the provision of the proposed ordinance, it shall be a ground for cancellation or revocation of the business registration and the withdrawal of all incentives given to the business,” she stressed. (MAL/EPS-CGLegazpi/PIA5/Albay)
