LEGAZPI CITY, February 19 (PIA) – The Electronic Billing and Collection System (eBCS) was re-introduced by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) during a re-orientation/meeting with Agency Authorized Officers (AAOs) and FINANCE Officers/ Electronic Remittance File (ERF) Handlers last February 12, 2015 at the Albay Astrodome.
Membership MANAGER Armena N. Salvanera of GSIS Luzon Operations Office welcomed 298 participants from the different government agencies within the Province of Albay.
The eBCS is a web-based system that enables remitting agencies to download electronic billing file (EBF) and facilitate upload of electronic remittance file (ERF) monthly. Upon upload of the ERF, the file will be validated for errors. Remitting agencies are required to download the Summary of Totals (SOT) prior to remittance payment either through bank, online payment, or through GSIS over-the-counter. Upon payment, the remittances are automatically posted on each member's ACCOUNT.
Other updates and reminders were also discussed during the meeting.
Salvanera reiterated the roles and responsibilities of AAOs, FINANCE Officers and ERF Handlers as stressed out on the commitment forms submitted by agencies.
AAOs are officers designated by agencies through the AAO Electronic Online System form. There are two AAOs per agency, one primary and one alternate. They are authorized to provide data to the GSIS membership coordinators. Primary AAOs are authorized to confirm loan applications of members. Hence, AAOs must ensure that the net take home pay of loan applicants is above P3,000 as required by law. Alternate AAOs are authorized to confirm loan applications in the absence of Primary AAOs only.
Salvanera also announced that Primary AAOs and ERF Handlers are automatically covered with personal accident insurance of up to P500,000, medical reimbursement of P50,000 and death benefit of P10,000.
AAOs and ERF Handlers were also reminded that it is important to update members data using ARA forms A-E to ensure fast and accurate processing of benefits.
Meantime, GSIS Legazpi Branch Manager Joel R. Defeo reminded the AAOs and FINANCE Officer/ERF Handlers of the impending resumption of loan payments covered by the six-month loan moratorium on March 2015.
The Province of Albay was covered by the moratorium implemented by GSIS for members affected by Typhoon Glenda. The moratorium which runs from September 2014 until February 2015 enabled the affected members to use the deferred loan payments for house repairs and other urgent needs. (AAN/RBLotivio-PIA 5)
