9,094 families evacuated on “Typhoon Amang” in Camarines Norte

DAET, Camarines Norte, Jan. 20  (PIA) – Some 9,094 families were evacuated from all the twelve (12) towns of this province due to “Typhoon Amang” as reported by the municipalities yesterday to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Antonio E. España said that Daet town recorded the highest number of families with 6,555 evacuated followed by Labo with 901 while Vinzons has 560.

Daet and Vinzons have coastal barangays while some of the barangays in Labo are prone to landslide. The town of Basud recorded the lowest families evacuated with only eight (8) while other municipalities recorded 20 to 227 families evacuated. On the other hand, one (1) casualty was reported in barangay Tawig in Paracale town due to landslides.

There were two (2) houses buried due to landslides in the town Jose Panganiban while the bridge in Kabuluan in Sta. Elena town is passable since Sunday night, the road affected by landslide in barangay Rizal also in Sta. Elena caused the area not passable until yesterday morning.

At 12:35 yesterday Jan. 19 all roads in this province are passable according to Provincial Information Officer Architect Elmer Cesar Zaleta of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

No classes in all levels yesterday, Jan. 19 as declared by Gov. Edgardo Tallado on Sunday.

The power supply has resumed starting 3:00 in the afternoon yesterday in some other areas of the province after the power off on Sunday morning due to the damage of the 650 KV line of the Camarines Norte Electric Cooperative.(MAL/RBM-PIA5/CamNorte).
