VIRAC, Catanduanes, March 17 (PIA) -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Catanduanes will be conducting the 4th Summer Barakalan sa Plaza Rizal from April 14-26 that will showcase not only locally-made products but also made from other regionsacross the country.
Heginio Baldano, DTI Catanduanes provincial Director, this year’s event will coincide with the Holy Week break and expected to draw balikbayans and foreign tourists.
Barakalan seeks to provide marketing opportunities for local processors by taking advantage of the influx of vacationers that usually take local products home for souvenirs during the religious observance.
At the same time, the event will promote and showcase flourishing local crafts, delicacies and wares.
Among the products to be sold at the fair are processed food, wearables (bags, slippers and accessories), gifts and decors, home furnishings using rattan, wood and bamboo, crabs, fish and shrimps, as well as services such as massage and traditional “hilot.”
Like the previous Barakalan activities, a special setting will be set up at the skating rink, around which the booths would be installed. Special awards would be given to the best-dressed booth and the most innovative product. (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
