VIRAC, Catanduanes, Jan. 29 (PIA) -- At least 40 girls and eight adult leaders from three schools of the division of Catanduanes participated in the first Provincial Star Holiday spearheaded by the Catanduanes Girl Scout Council from January 17- 19, 2014 at the Virac Pilot Elementary School campus.

The participants-- nine Star scouts were from Panganiban with two troop leaders while 11  girls from Gogon Elementary School arrived with two troop leaders. Around 21 Star scouts were from Virac Pilot with four troop leaders.

GSP Council board president Aida A. Dianela said that the activity aims to make the young participants be more independent and responsible children as they grow up to be the future women leaders of this island.

During the duration of the activity, several activities were lined up to enhance their experiences focused on the theme “Stars in Fantasy World.”

They attended to daily chores, learned table setting, flower arranging, and bed making (fixing). To develop their creativity and imagination while addressing waste management, they were made to come up with the most creative costume using garbage materials.

Afterwards, they paraded in their costumes. They were given a chance to show-off their talents, listen to fairy tales and act them out. They were made to work by patrols to teach them cooperation, friendship and sisterhood, and respect for each other’s individuality.
