Legazpi opens interest-free loan to tricycle drivers, operators

LEGAZPI CITY, Oct 15 (PIA) – Legitimate tricycle drivers and operators of this city can now avail the zero-interest loan assistance program offered by the city government here through the City Franchising Office.

Legazpi City councilor Rolly Rosal said based on the guidelines and mechanics, the applicant must be a bonafide resident of this city and a franchise holder or driver with good moral character and no pending case in any court or found convicted of any crime, with mayor’s permit annually renewed and with an income of not more than P50,000 per year.

The applicant must submit copies of the identification card (ID) issued by the city government, Certificate of Indigency and Certificate from the Public Safety Office (PSO) to the Transportation Development and Regulation Division of this city.

Rosal noted that qualified applicant can avail the P2,000 worth of loan payable in four months without interest.

Failure to pay the said amount could lead to abeyance or suspension of the mayor’s permit for the coming year until full payment of the loan.

Rosal added that this program is part of the support given to all members of the transport sectors operation within the city to help improve their daily living condition.

Furthermore he urged them to follow the laws related to the transport sector to give more satisfaction to the riding public particularly the visitors and tourists by collecting only the right amount of fare from them.

The loan assistance program was materialized through a resolution passed during the 2nd regular session of the 13th Sangguniang Panlungsod on July 16 this year.

It was automatically approved by vice-mayor Vitorrio Roces and signed by Mayor Noel Rosal on the same date. (MAL/SAA/PIA5-Albay)
