Public servants plant 1,000 assorted tree seedlings in Cam Norte

DAET, Camarines Norte, Sept. 20 (PIA) – A total of 1,000 assorted tree seedlings were planted by the employees of the national government agencies and local government units along the Gawad Kalinga resettlement area in Barangay Laniton, San Lorenzo Ruiz town, this province yesterday (Sept. 19).

The tree planting activity formed part of the 113th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary with the theme “Tatak Lingkod Bayani: Isabuhay, Ipagmalaki at Ipagbunyi”.

 Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office chief PENRO Elpidio Orata of Camarines Norte said that the tree planting activity, led by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), supports the environmental protection program initiatives of other national and local government and private sectors.

He said that the initiative conformed with the priority National Greening Program (NGP) which targeted 1,154 tree seedlings planted to 2,308 hectares in upland and protected areas; and 468,000 propagules to 234 mangrove areas this year for the province.

Agencies which participated in the tree planting activity included Camarines Norte State College (CNSC), Department of Education (DepEd), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), National Statistics Office (NSO), Philippine National Police (PNP), local government units of Paracale, Labo, Basud and Daet.

Members of the Camarines Norte Council of Personnel Officers (CNCPO) also conducted an outreach program to 50 indigent children from the Zantua Abordo E. School in Talisay town.

The same organization spearheaded an orientation on the new Civil Service policies and benchmarking of the best human resource practices by the LGU-Vinzons.

On Sept. 25 there will be an on-the-spot grant of eligibility to barangay officials of LGU-Capalonga while on Sept. 30 will be the closing and awarding ceremony for the celebration.(MAL/RB-/PIA5/Camarines Norte).
