Napolcom audits Masbate police

By Ernesto A. Delgado

MASBATE CITY, June 20 (PIA) -- A team from the regional office of the National Police Commission (Napolcom) is conducting an operations audit of the Philippine National Police force in the Masbate province.

Senior Supt. Heriberto O. Olitoquit, police provincial director for Masbate, said the inspectors were led by lawyer Luis C. Adornado, the regional director of Napolcom .

Employing its administrative control and operational supervision over the PNP, the Napolcom performs an audit of the performance, activities and facilities of all police agencies throughout the country to come up with some basis to establish standards for such purposes.

Olitoquit said the month-long inspection which started Tuesday would cover the entire police units and personnel in Masbate, including the police stations in this city and 20 municipalities, the Police Provincial Office Public Safety Company and maneuver platoons in the province’s three districts.

Set to be assessed are their accomplishments and the implementation of various directives from their headquarters and Napolcom. On the spotlight is the police response to the high incidence of murder and rampant use of illegal methods in fishing.

The inspection includes the proper wearing of uniform, accounting of issued firearms and other government property, vehicles as well as equipment. (MAL/EAD/PIA5-Masbate)
