DOT-NPDC lauds 21st Pinyasan Festival celebration in Daet

DAET, Camarines Norte, June 28 (PIA) -- Department of Tourism-National Parks and Development Committee (DOT-NPDC) Executive Director Juliet H. Villegas lauded the 21st Pinyasan Festival's unified celebration in the float competition participated by Daet's 25 barangays on June 19.

“This is my first time to attend the Pinyasan Festival and I’m proud to say that this is indeed fun because it’s more fun in the Philippines,” Villegas exclaimed.

She said the float competition is very colorful and the town has the sweetest pineapple - “Queen Formosa."

“We at the Department of Tourism will always support your municipality, because this is a nice place, it’s more fun in the Philippines through Daet,” she reiterated.

Villegas also said that June 19 is also a historic day for Daet and the whole nation because it is the 152nd birthday of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal.

She further cited the launching of the book,"The First Rizal Monument, Nationalism and the 1898 Daet Uprising,” by renowned Bicolano historian Prof. Danilo Gerona.

Mayor Tito Sarion said that the float competition gave importance to the Formosa pineapple as a product that helps in the tourism and economy of the town and province.

He also extend his appreciation to the national government agencies, non-government organization, corporate sponsors, local officials and chief of offices of the town, media and Bobby Yan of “Kabuhayan Swak na Swak” for their support to the activity.

He said that the activity is also in celebration the 430th foundation day (June 15) anniversary and the town fiesta in honor of Saint John the Baptist on June 24.

The winners of the float competition are the Barangay Cobangbang which bagged the first prize with P75,000 cash prize while the Barangay Magang and Barangay IV were the 2nd and 3rd prize winners with P50,000 and P25,000 cash prizes, respectively. The winners also received plaques and certificates during the awarding.

The Miss Pinyasan, Miss Tourism, and Miss Daet candidates; Miss Pinyasan Little Angels and the local officials headed by Mayor Sarion also participated in the parade of the floats. (MAL/RBM/PIA5, Camarines Norte)
