DOE starts distribution of Pantawid Pasada smart cards in Albay

LEGAZPI CITY, June 23 (PIA)-- The Department of Energy (DOE) has started distributing the Pantawid Pasada smart cards yesterday (June 22) to jeepney operators at the Albay Astrodome here.

Director Zenaida Y. Monsada of the Oil Industry Management Bureau of the DOE was on hand during the distribution assisted by Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) regional director Porfirio D. Clavel and Land transportation Office (LTO) regional officer-In-Charge Neil D. Sadia.

Sadia said that some 4,500 jeepney operators from the six provinces of Bicol will benefit from the Pantawid Pasada program of the Aquino administration for jeepney operators .

Monsada explained that the card will be loaded with P1,050.00 worth of fuel subsidy that can be used five days after it is received by jeepney operator or driver to buy diesel fuel in participating designated gasoline stations in the region.

She said that the card contains the plate number of the passenger jeepney so that only that jeepney with the plate number that corresponds with the card will be allowed to draw diesel fuel from the participating gasoline stations.

Sadia meanwhile said that jeepney operators can now claim their smart cards daily with the LTO regional office here , adding that DOE has already delivered to them the 4,500 cards for distribution.

He advised jeepney operators to bring with them when getting their cards the following requirements: 1. Original and photo copy of current Confirmation Certificate from LTFRB 2. If not available bring Original at photocopy of Certificate of Public Convinience, (Decision/ Order) and 3. Photocopyof OR (From April 2010 to March 2011) 4. Original at photocopy of A valid Identification Card with photo. (MAL/EDL, PIA V)
