VIRAC, Catanduanes, March 6 (PIA) -- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Catanduanes will conduct a re-orientation seminar on Republic Act 4136 or the Traffic Rules and Regulations Act for personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Catanduanes who will be deputized as traffic law enforcers.
The two-day seminar at Camp Francisco Camacho was held to ensure efficiency of police personnel on traffic law enforcement and safety of motorists in the province.
LTO Catanduanes also set a consultation conference within this week with stakeholders to raise awareness on and implementation of traffic rules and regulations, as well as the implementation of Helmet Law.
According to Catanduanes LTO Catanduanes Ramon Diaz, the activity will help police personnel who will be deputized as traffic law enforcers.
The series of checkpoints, according to Diaz, is also a response to the call of Catanduanes Congressman Cesar V. Sarmiento, chairman of the Committee on Transportation of the House of Representatives to let all concerned operators, transport sectors, traffic enforcers, local officials and the public as well to undertake trainings and consultations.
The solon stated that the apprehension of traffilc law violators by LTO may serve as lesson to all drivers and motorists reminding his constituents not to drive while under the influence of liquor and prohibited drugs.
In the consultation, Diaz will tackle local situationers and issues in the province while LTFRB updates and issues will be discussed by Engr. Roel V. Alsisto, regional director of Land Transportation franchising and regulatory board in Bicol.
Melchor V. Cayabyab, chair of the Office of Transport Cooperatives will also deliberate on OTC updates and government programs of the Office of Transport Cooperatives to organized transport sectors.
Meanwhile, Jaime E. Masagca, Acting Administrative officer of LTO V will have a talk on Road safety to be succeeded by an open forum.(EAB/ PIA Catanduanes)
