DAET, Camarines Norte, Feb. 11 (PIA) – The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process (OPAPP) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) jointly spearhead today until tomorrow a planning workshop on Local Peace and Development to keep track of the status of the peace process and the Whole-of-Government Approach (WGA).
The two-day workshop pursues the thrust in the mainstreaming Peace and Development in Local Governance Project (MPDLGP) under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) programs of the OPAPP.
Ma.Eileen A. Jose, director of the PAMANA and CLIP coordinating unit said the convergence of implementers intends to come up with a conflict analysis of the PAMANA province and locate it within the broad frame of the peace process; to identify gaps and peacebuilding needs based on the conflict analysis as well as resources to address these gaps; and to identify projects or interventions for the 2015 programming.
The uniformed men such as the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army (PA) are expected to attend the activity.
Invited to participate also include the chairman of the Sanguniang Panlalawigan, Committee on Peace and Order; provincial director of DILG; PAMANA-KCIDSS program manager of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD); Schools Division Superintentent of Department of Education (DepEd) and the Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
Other participants are the provincial heads/chiefs of the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Planning and Development Office, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) and Provincial Treasurer’s Office (PTO).
The mayors of the municipalities covered by the PAMANA with their Municipal Planning and Development coordinators, including San Lorenzo Ruiz, Basud, Capalonga, Labo, Jose Panganiban, and Santa Elena will also be included to participate in the activity.
PAMANA program pursues community resiliency, a nationwide converged peace-building projects focused on the development of conflict-affected areas and vulnerable communities. The province is one of the recipients of the said program of the OPAPP.
The activity is also in partnership with the provincial government of Camarines Norte.(MAL/RBM-PIA5/Camarines Norte)
