LEGAZPI CITY, Feb. 17 (PIA) -- The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has issued a notice for more than eight-hour shutdown of its transmission facilities in some areas Albay province for two consecutive days starting tomorrow, Feb. 18, until the next day.
In its media advisory dated Feb. 14, NGCP stated the power outage will run 8:30 am – 5:00 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 18; and 8:00 am – 5:00 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 19, affecting areas which will be determined by Albay Electric Cooperative (Aleco), the province’s distribution utility.
The notice of scheduled power interruption (NOSPI) stated the power firm will repair and reconfigure the Lacag Aerial Disconnect Switch and conduct the annual preventive maintenance of transformer and associated equipment.
The same NOSPI noted that specific cities and municipalities that maybe affected by the power interruption are determined by the distribution utility concerned, unless the activity will have an effect on the entire franchise area.
It furthered the distribution utility allocates the available power within its franchise area and implements the power interruption schedule among the end-users.
Aleco meanwhile has advised that the power outage on Feb. 18 will affect areas covered by Polangui and Ligao substations; while on Feb. 19 will affect areas covered by Washington and Bitano substations.
Aleco added that the local power cooperative will also conduct preventive line clearing, pole replacement and other maintenance of equipment and facilities to maximize the power interruption of the NGCP.
NGCP has assured that normal operations will immediately resume after work completion.
NGCP has also reminded customers and general public to take the necessary preparations and precautions for this scheduled interruption, the NOSPI further notified. (MAL-PIA5/Albay)
