BGen Felix J. Castro Jr, task group “Sagip” commander said the deployment plan of all disaster response units of the Philippine Army has been deployed since the first meeting with the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) last November 4.
Castro said brigades and battalions were also ordered to activate their disaster response task units in coordination with their respective PDRRMCs.
9ID commander BGen Yerson E. Depayso assured that the Philippine Army in the region will commit all its capabilities and assets for tropical storm Yolanda to ensure the safety of the Bicolanos with "zero casualty" target.
Depayso said the disaster response operations platoon from Division HQS has joined the alerted uniformed agencies yesterday at Camp Ola in this city to serve as RDRRMC quick reaction forces.
The personnel and military vehicles of the three Infantry Brigades in the region are now on standby to be dispatched for preemptive evacuation at flood-prone, landslide-prone, and lahar/mudflow areas.
Army reservists of the 5th Regional Community Defense Group (ARESCOM) are also alerted for possible deployment.
Depayso added their personnel are continuously trained on disaster preparedness, rescue operations, and water and search specialized trainings to immediately respond during times of disasters.
