NAGA CITY, Nov. 7 (PIA) -- Bracing for worst scenario, Camarines Sur Governor Migz Villafuerte has alerted all Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (MDRRMC), including the barangay counterparts to take special caution in view of typhoon Yolanda.
Villafuerte also already announced the suspension of classes in all levels early this morning to give way to students who will be going back to their hometown or to far flung municipalities.
In the series of Provincial Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (PDRRMC) meetingsduring the past two days, preparedness measures were mopped out to ensure that all possible way to assist the community will be carried out.
It includes the creation of an organized Satellite Operation Center in Sipocot, Ragay and Partido District Hospitals. The Municipal Hospital of Bato and Libmanan District Hospital will also be part of the said scheme. The satellite center will be manned by a Quick Response Team (QRT) composed mainly of nurses and responders. It will also be manned by Kabalikat Bikol, PNP Maritime, Philippine National Police (PNP) and members of the Philippine Army (PA).
PDRRMC has also convened the Health Emergency Management Staff (HEMS) to utilize and prepare their personnel and ensure that emergency rooms are medically equipped for any eventualities. Health and emergency needs have already been identified, including the inventory of available medical supplies. The team had already coordinated with different Rural Health Units (RHUs).
Villafuerte, during this morning’s PDRRMC meeting also call on all Camarinenses to take heed of the government’s advice if there is a need for a pre emptive evacuation in their respective municipalities.
“I am appealing to all Camarinenses and to everyone to be especially careful if TS Yolanda is going to pour her wrath on our province. I am also pleading to all our fisherfolks, particularly along the Ragay Gulf and Bicol River Basin areas to suspend going out of the sea as this would endanger their lives,” Villafuerte stated.
Villafuerte said that his team will have a round the clock monitoring to ensure that all emergency cases will be responded to immediately.
Residents of flood prone areas in the province which include the municipalities of Sipocot, Buhi, Bato, Ombao, Camaligan, Nabua, Bula, Pili, Bombon, Calabanga, Canaman, Gainza, Magarao, Milaor, Minalabac, Pamplona, Libmanan, San Fernando, Cabusao and Naga city are advised to take the necessary precautions for possible flashfloods and landslides due to the continuous outpour of rain.
