VIRAC, Catanduanes, Sept. 24 (PIA) -- The provincial government here will lead the celebration of the Catandungan Festival 2013 next month that will showcase the province's rich culture and tradition in time for the 68th foundation anniversary of Catanduanes.
Provincial tourism officer Carmel B. Garcia said the month-long festivity will be comprised of the pre-festival events that will commence on October 7 and main three-day from October 24-26.
Garcia said the executive committee has lined up main activities including Seminar on Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Operations; Seminar on Customer Service Management; Training on Tourist Transport and Passenger Handling for Tricycle Drivers; International Research Forum; Catandungan Festival Bazaar; Capitol Sportsfest; Majestic Puraran Surfing Cup and 10th Ecotrek
She added that Catanduanes will also host the regional assembly and election of officers of the Vice-Mayor’s League of the Philippines in Bicol region with still undetermined specific dates but within the the festivity schedule.
On October 21, the festivity will feature the search for Ginoong Catandungan while Bb. Catandungan Pageant Night will be held on October 24.
The festival proper, said Garcia, which will start on October 24 will kick-off with a civic- military parade around downtown Virac to be participated by government employees, non-government organizations, students and other sectors of the community.
Meanwhile, the festivity will also showcase fashion show which will highlight the rich culture and creations of the province on the culmination of the celebration on October 26 . (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
