NAGA CITY, June 13 (PIA) -- Its all systems go for this city’s commemoration of its 65th Anniversary as Chartered City.
The month-long celebration will be capped with various activities highlighting why Naga was famously called as “Maogmang Lugar” or a happy place.
Reviving its early reputation as a flourishing village off the riverbanks of the Naga River 65 years ago, the local government has set up a Trade and Agri Fair to showcase the abundant produce of the Nagueños. Now on its 3rd year, the 4 day–Fair aims to boost the local economy of the city’s residents and encourage the patronage of the local products.
One of the highlights of the celebration is also the commemoration of the local government of the Kalayaan 115h Philippine Independence Day to be held at the historic Plaza Quezon on June 12, Wednesday. From June 13 to 14, the city government through its METRO PESO personnel will spearhead the holding of livelihood opportunities in an activity dubbed as “ Jobs Fair to the Max Year 2”. Local and overseas employers will be invited to partake of the event.
Hyping its local delicacy which is most loved by Naguenos from all walks of life, the 3rd Kinalas Festival will take center stage on June 17 at Plaza Rizal. Kinalas, a noodle made tasty by a meaty broth was recently hailed as one of the most famous dishes Nagueños enjoy, thus the celebration of Kinalas Festival was brought in the forefront in acknowledgment of Nagueños patronage to the said dish.
Simultaneously happening on the 17th of June is the Civil Registration Day at the People’s Hall, inside the City hall compound. Here, copies of the documents and registrations will be easily accessed through the help of City Hall employees.
A holy mass with His Excellency, Most Reverend Rolando Octavus Tirona, O.C.D., D.D. Archbishop of Caceres will signal the formal opening of the Charter Anniversary Celebration. The mass will be held at 6:30am and will be celebrated at the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral.
The mass will be concluded with the ringing of Cathedral bells and blowing of sirens and will be immediately followed by a Grand Civic and Military Parade. Commencing at the Cathedral grounds, the parade will pass through the main thoroughfare of the city and will end up at Plaza Quezon to give way to a simple program.
On the same day, landless household will also celebrate a new lease of hope as City Mayor John Bongat spearheads the giving away of land titles at the Plaza Rizal. Capping the day is the Mayoral Awards to be given to Outstanding Nagueños who has done an exemplary deed and has contributed to the development of Naga City. It will be held at the Avenue Plaza Hotel at 6:00pm.
Ending the month long celebration is the commemoration of Jose Rizal’s 152nd Birth anniversary to be held at the Plaza Rizal on June 19 and SANDUGO, with the theme “One Blood, One City”, to be held at the Naga City People’s Hall from 8 to 3 in the afternoon. (MAL/LSM/PIA5-Camarines Sur)
