VIRAC, Catanduanes, June 13 (PIA) -- As part of the commemoration of the 115th Philippine Independence, Governor Joseph C. Cua of Catanduanes led the wreath-laying ceremony at Rizal’s Monument in this province on June 12.
Before the wreath-laying, a mass was held at Virac Cathedral attended by the local officials and employees of the provincial government and other agencies.
The flag-raising ceremony at Plaza Rizal was participated by Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, Department of Education, Department of Interior and Local Government and other government employees from the various agencies.
It was then followed by the wreath-laying ceremony at Rizal's Monument in Virac town plaza and a 21-gun salute by the Philippine National Police.
According to Gov. Cua, commemorating the Philippine Independence is significant and is a way of showing our love and respect to our country.
Meanwhile, government offices in the province particularly in Virac town displayed the Philippine National Flag in their respective offices as part of the commemoration of the Philippine Independence.
