VIRAC,
Catanduanes, April 12 (PIA) -- Now hitting the airwaves of
Viga-Panganiban-Bagamanoc area is the newest radio station in town, the
Nutri-skwela DZNJ Radyo Kaamigo.
The community radio station is located at the CSU Panganiban Campus Administration Building and managed by the broadcasting team of selected CSU Panganiban Campus staff who underwent series of intensive trainings.
The launching program and inaugural broadcast on April 4, was graced by Assistant Secretary and National Nutrition Council executive director Maria Bernardita Tresvalles Flores, CSU President Minerva I. Morales, Panganiban Mayor Robert A. Fernandez, and NNC Region V Coordinator Arlene Reario, together with Provincial Nutrition Officer Maritess Curativo.
The radio's blurb is about the distinct and endearing interjection of the Viga-Panganiban-Bagamanoc-- "Heee, Labis Man!"
Radyo Kaamigo is the 22nd radio station established by the National Nutrition Council in the Philippines.
The Nutri-skwela community radio project is undertaken by the NNC in partnership with local government units and state universities and colleges.
It was born of a need for a long-term and cost-efficient strategy to address the problem of hunger and malnutrition in the Philippines in conjunction with current anti-hunger and anti-poverty programs of government. (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
