NAGA CITY, Sept. 23 (PIA) --- President Rodrigo Roa Duterte expressed his full backing to the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in his quest to achieve full victory over the administration’s fight against terrorism and drugs.
He made this clear during his recent visit at the 9th Infantry Division at Camp Elias Angeles, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur, Wednesday, September 21.
In his brief but clear message to the Spear Troopers, the President said that terrorism will come - the reason why there is a need for the government to prepare and learn to adjust, not just their strategies but also their armaments.
“Learn to deal now, make the most of this time, come up with the doctrines and everything, how to deal with terrorism. Terrorism will come, learn to adjust, kaya sabi ko bibigyan ko kayo ng sidearms. Pati itong GLOC 30 bibigyan ko kayo lahat. Am starting to purchase as many as the manufacturers can produce,” Duterte added.
The President also elicited laughter from his audience when he shared that he likes GLOC 30 since it sounded like “GLOC- terte,” referring to the phenomenal DU30 moniker or catchphrase that he used during the elections.
GLOC 30 is a sophisticated weapon said to have been developed for an elite law enforcement unit.
Aside from sophisticated weapons, President Duterte also assured the soldiers that he will give the Armed Forces all the equipment that they need to give them a higher chance of survival and greater edge over the terrorists.
PRRD also said that he already ordered the conversion of the presidential plane to an air ambulance and will turn it over to the medical corps to serve as a stand by air vehicle cum hospital just in case our soldiers need an emergency treatment. He said he also improved the AFP’s military hospital to ensure that soldiers will receive utmost medical attention.
With President Duterte in his brief but historic sortie in the province of Camarines Sur were Secretary of National Defense Delfin N. Lorenzana, Presidential Adviser on Military Affairs (PAMA) Undersecretary Arthur Tabaquero, Defense Operations Under Secretary Cesar B. Yano, AFP Vice Chief of Staff (VCS) LTG Glorioso V. Miranda, Philippine Army Commanding General LTG Eduardo M. Año and Commander of Southern Luzon Command LTG Ferdinand F. Quidilla. (MAL:/LSM-PIA5/Camarines Sur)
