PILI, CAMARINES SUR, May 12 (PIA) --- Re-electionist Camarines Sur Governor Miguel “Migz” Villafuerte’s hands were finally raised at around 5:30 yesterday afternoon after the Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC) agreed to proclaim him even with the absence of the election returns coming from the municipalities of Tinambac and Calabanga.
The abovementioned municipalities failed to electronically transmit the election returns after their vote counting machines (VMCs) malfunctioned. The Secure Digital (SD) cards were brought to the COMELEC main office accompanied by counsels of various political parties and is expected to be returned to the PBOC anytime within the day.
Under the rule on lowering the thresh hold of the vote percentage to 90 per cent , Villafuerte was proclaimed by COMELEC Camarines Sur Election Officer Atty.Romeo Serrano, PBOC Vice Chairperson Prosecutor Richard Cu and Department of Education (DepEd) Camarines Sur Division Superintendent Dr. Arnulfo Balane
Camarines Sur 5th District Rep. Salvio Fortuno (LP) was also proclaimed after garnering 134, 372 votes as against his contender, Felix Alfelor Jr. (UNA) with 36, 680 votes.
With 100 per cent of election returns from the 5th district already certified by the PBOC, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Members Rex Oliva (NP), Emmanuel Noble (NP) and Butch Figuracion were consequently proclaimed too. Oliva got the highest vote with 90,060 while Figuracion and Noble garnered 87, 636 and 87,417 votes respectively.
The 5th district is composed of 7 municipalities with a voting population of 240,559. Based on the provincial canvass report, 201,814 actual voters casted their votes
At 4:30pm, re-electionist Camarines Sur 1st District Representative Rolando Andaya Jr. was also proclaimed by the PBOC after reaping an overwhelming vote of 55,526 as against the 22,185 votes from his political opponent, Fr. YonYon Napoles (NPC).
1st termer Russel Bañes topped his other opponents as board member of the same district after snuggling 42,894 votes as against incumbent Board Member Warren Señar (NP) with 27,228 and Carlos Batalla (PMM) with 1,799 votes.
The 1st District is composed of 5 municipalities, namely; Cabusao, Del Gallego, Lupi, Ragay and Sipocot. It has a total voting population of 106,740.
Former Camarines Sur Governor LRay Villafuerte (NP) , accompanied by Governor-elect Migz and wife Lara was also proclaimed as the next representative of the 2nd Congressional district in Camarines Sur late in the afternoon after garnering a total vote of 85, 696 as against his opponent Ava Arceño (NPC) who garnered a total of 37,029.
3rd and 4th District representatives and board members cannot be proclaimed yet as election returns from Calabanga, for the 3rd district and Tinambac for the 4th district, might still affect the figures of the votes casted for the said candidates. (MAL/LSM-PIA5/Camarines Sur)
