SORSOGON CITY, Feb. 16 (PIA) – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Sorsogon provincial office here has eyed more scholars this year as it continues to invest in youth empowerment through the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP).
TESD senior specialist Ric Detecio said the STEP is a community-based training program that seeks to address the specific needs of communities and promote employment.
Detecio added that it aims to train youth with technical skills that will equip and empower them towards employment opportunities, may it be as self-employment or entrepreneurship.
The qualified scholars of the program are privileged not only with free training and competency assessment but also provide with starter took kits and a training allowance of Php60.00/day. These are just few of many perks every scholar is privileged of once he/she becomes qualified to the program aside from being ensured with TESDA’s quality training.
According to Detecio, TESDA Sorsogon is now accepting interested applicants in the said program. They will be opening about 143 slots in the first district of the province of Sorsogon under various qualifications provided in the list of training programs including 20 slots for Carpentry NC II, 21 for Masonry NC I, 21 for Tile Setting NC II, 21 for Installing Wiring Devices/Lighting System leading to Electrical Installation and Maintenance on II, and 21 for Dressmaking NC II.
Qualified to avail the scholarship are those 15 years old and above who are willing to complete the training.
