PILI, CAMARINES SUR, Feb.12 (PIA) --- President Benigno Aquino III cited during his visit here today the fruits of the “Daang Matuwid” thrusts, enumerating among others the various road networks and bridges that were improved and completed under his administration.
Aside from the widening of the Pili Diversion road which has cut the travel time between Barangay Anayan to San Agustin in Pili from 10 to 5 minutes and the widening of the San Jose Bridge from a 2 to a 4-lane highway, Aquino announced other projects that are now benefiting the Camarinenses.
One of which is the Sabang Fishport Development Project in Calabanga which will benefit 80,000 constituents once operational. The port is part of the 40 priority projects that 3rd District Representative Leni Robredo wanted to realize under her stewardship.
Other projects include the rehabilitation of Naga River flood control projects, construction of district hospital in Calabanga, building of sea walls in coastal areas and farm to market roads, to mention a few.
Aquino said that this is the best testimony of Good Governance.
“Malinaw naman. Good governance is good economics. Sa tapat at mabuting pamamahala, napapaunlad ang ekonomiya. Ito rin mismo ang nagbibigay sa gobyerno ng higit na kakayahang bigyang lakas ang ating mamamayan upang makiambag sa lalo pang pag-unlad ng bansa.”
The President stated that aside from the national roads, some 1,550 kilometers of tourism roads in various parts of the country have been completed, including 3,700 local roads which were done in close coordination with local government units.
Aquino specifically cited the benefit of the road widening project in Pili Diversion which now serves as an alternative route for motorists coming from Albay going to Pili and Naga and ten (10) towns of the 4th Congressional District of Camarines Sur.
Aside from decongesting the town’s Poblacion area, the widened Diversion road in Pili also benefits 5, 757 motorists every day.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) under Aquino’s term also replaced 12,585 linerar meters of temporary bridges all over the country and strengthened them to ensure the safety of the motorists.
The President ended his speech in Bicol dialect.
“Sa saindo, mga padangat kong Boss na Bicolano, ipadagos ta ang satong pagkasararo para sa realisasyon kan satuyang mga minamawot o pangaturugan.” (To all of you, beloved Bicolano Boss, let us continue to be united so that we can realize all our aspirations.) (LSMacatangay, PIAV/Camarines Sur)
