VIRAC, Catanduanes, Sept. 15 (PIA) – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) will launch the Electronic Barangay Governance Performance Measurement System (e-BGPMS), an online reporting system for all barangays which measures performance in various fields such as administration, social and environmental.
According to DILG Catanduanes provincial director Uldarico Razal, the program aims to serve as the basis for the national government and policymakers in formulating policy that would rationalize assistance to barangays.
It will also apprise the city or municipal government of the present state or level of performance of its component barangays and thus be guided in the formulation of integrated policies, plans and programs that would lead to the barangay’s efficient delivery of basic services and effective discharge of its functions and responsibilities.
e-BGPMS will also provide the city and municipal government with vital data/inputs in the accomplishments of the data requirements of their own LGPMS; and to raise awareness of the barangay government and barangay officials on their state or level of performance.
In this connection, barangay secretaries, barangay chairmen, and appropriation charimen in the province are being given training and being provided with proper knowledge on the implementation of the program.
Razal said that the implementation of the project will start after the simultaneous trainings being conducted at Amenia Beach Resort this September, 2015.
In Bicol, the municipality of Santa Magdalena, Sorsogon was the first town to implement the program.(MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
