VIRAC, Catanduanes, Sept. 15 (PIA) - Thirty two persons with disabilities (PWD) received kabuhayan starter kit from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on September 3, 2015 at the Capitol Dome Virac, Catanduanes.
The project aims to provide intervention to one of the vulnerable groups of sector in Catanduanes who have needs to be addressed. They were awarded set of tools and equipment that could help them in their livelihood activities to augment their income and to help them alleviate poverty.
DOLE Catanduanes officer in charge Russell Ulysses I. Nieves bared that the kits include 5 sets fiber glass fishing boats; 2 set vulcanizing machine; 1 set sari-sari store; 4 sets of gadget for e-loading business; 2 sets beauty care tools and materials; 1 set for barber; 5 for food vending; 2 for farming and 1 for carpentry.
Nieves likewise expressed gratitude for the support of the Public Employment Service Officers (PESOs) the Provincial Government of Catanduanes.
He added that they will struggle to have succeeding batches for the same project.
Meanwhile, Governor Araceli B. Wong said in her message that on 2016, the Provincial Government of Catanduanes will allocate P7 million pesos for the Special Projects for Senior Citizen and PWDs.
She also advised the group to live happily, accept and be thankful of who and what they are and make use of their infirmity as assets in looking for job opportunities appropriate to their individuality.
Ivan Anton Tabo, District 1, Gigmoto – PWD beneficiary thanked DOLE and those who made the project possible. According to him, receiving the starter kit make him feel that he has importance to the society. (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
