Trade and jobs fair highlights Women’s Day celebration in Naga City

NAGA CITY, Mar.6 (PIA) --- Members of the Lakas ng Kababaihan and Women Entrepreneurs staged an exhibits and sales of products, services  to highlight the 2-day Trade and Jobs Fair on March 7 to 8 at the JMR Coliseum, this city in time for the celebration of the 2014 International Women’s Day.

Dubbed “Asenso kan Kababaihan, Asenso kan Distrito”, the two-day Trade and Jobs Fair will also showcase the exhibits of partner government agencies like the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

The said agencies, which will be represented by their respective directors will officially commit themselves to push development in their respective areas of jurisdictions through the partner’s pledging ceremony on the second day of the said event.

Aside from the sales and exhibits, stakeholders will also have a chance to see demonstrations in trade crafts, avail of the medical check-up and join the mass wedding. They can also take part in the blood donation drive, entrepreneurial assistance and in other special activities, also happening at the JMR coliseum.

To wrap up the first day, Lakas ng kababaihan will have a cultural presentation and certificates for the recipients of the community-based skills training will also be awarded during the Solidarity night.

On March 8, organizers will spearhead a fun walk from the JMR Coliseum to the main thoroughfares of the city. Robredo will personally lead the discussion on an activity dubbed as “Levelling-Up, Prospects for upgrading and upscaling.”

Undersecretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat for Special Concerns of the Department of Agriculture was also invited to grace the event as Keynote Speaker to serve as witness during the Partner’s Pledging activity.

Metro Naga Public Employment Office (METROPESO) Acting Manager Reuel M. Oliver stated that they are in full support of the activity happening in the next two days. Currently, there are already 35 local companies and 5 overseas manpower pulling companies that signified their intent to employ job seekers.

The Office of the Rep. Leni G. Robredo of the third congressional district of Camarines Sur, in cooperation with the city government here and the local government units of Bombon, Calabanga, Camaligan, Canaman, Magarao, Pili and Ocampo, will spearhead the event (MAL/LSM-PIAV/CamSur)
