METRO Daet 2014 launched on the “Salubong sa Bagong Taon”

DAET, Camarines Norte, January 7 (PIA) – The local government unit of Daet has launched Monday (January 6) the METRO Daet 2014 as one of the activities of the “Salubong sa Bagong Taon” this year highlighting the development of business enterprises while at the same time providing significant public facilities..

Mayor Tito Sarion of this municipality said that basic services of the local government such as employment facilitation and generation programs as well as livelihood are being strengthened through the METRO (Moving Economy Towards Real Opportunities) Daet 2014

Sarion said that a resolution was passed in December 2013 by the Sanguniang Bayan taking cognizance and supporting the programs of METRO Daet 2014.

A Metro Daet Development Council was organized last year to consolidate the efforts and resources of Daet and its neighboring municipalities to provide adequate social services, promote employment and improve the quality of life of the people.

He also cited that they will implement starting this year the Environmental Code of Daet which will regulate the use of plastic bags until 2016.

Earlier before the launching, a three Kings parade from the Daet Central Terminal to the Municipal Hall of Daet was held.  The three Kings were portrayed by Board Member Romeo Marmol as King Gaspar, Mayor Tito Sarion as King Baltazar and Regional Manager Bong Zipagan as King Melchor. This was followed by the gift giving to some 1,500 indigents of Daet.

Other activities conducted during the “Salubong sa Bagong Taon” includes the first Monday Flag Ceremony and the raising of 25 Barangay Banners by the Newly Elected Brgy. Captains and Chief of Offices, awarding of Daet Top Performing Business Establishments 2013 and the Mayor’s Call through the assembly of the barangay officials.

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was also signed between the local government unit of Daet through Mayor Sarion and Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) through Regional Manager Bong Zipagan for the Sanctuary Center and other projects for the town as one of the activity of the “Salubong sa Bagong Taon”.

This was followed by the formal opening of the Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) for Business Permits and Licensing System which has started in January 2 until Jan. 20 of this year. (MAL/RBM-PIA5/Camarines Norte).
