VIRAC, Catanduanes, Jan. 21 (PIA)- To uplift economic status of youths in the province, the office of Catanduanes Vice Governor Jose J. Teves, Jr. has spearheaded program on technical and vocational courses for youths with training at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
According to Teves, the program will offer free training to marginalized sector of the community, out-of-school youth, the unemployed and underemployed especially Viracnons with ages 18 years old and above who want to learn technical and vocational courses.
The following courses will be offered under the Business Opportunities for New Graduates (BONG) in Technical Vocational Education & Training: Dressmaking NCII; Food and Beverage Services NCII/Table Skirting and Table Setting; Massage Therapy NCII; Hair Dressing NCII; Beauty Care NCII (Pedicure/Manicure);
Entrepreneurship Program; Trainers Methodology Course Level I (for Bachelor’s Degree and NC Holder); and, Silk Screen Printing. Graduates will be provided training certificates and National Certificates.
Teves furthered that the Office of the Vice Governor will establish linkages to public and private employers for job placement of the trainees as well as extend livelihood support funds to the graduates who want to engage in micro, small and medium enterprises.
Enrollment started on January 15, 2014 and classes will begin on February 01at the Provincial Livelihood Skills Training Center at the third floor of the Youth Center Mall in Virac. (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
