LEGAZPI CITY, Jan. 20 (PIA) -- The recently organized network of division information officers of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Bicol region will lead in the information campaign for the Early Registration Day set January 25 this year.
DepEd-Bicol officer in charge Ramon Fiel Abcede emphasized in a memorandum the importance of organizing the communications teams in the division offices of DepEd all over the region.
“The division communications teams of the respectives DepEd division offices across the region are expected to lead a massive campaign activity supported by schools, parents, local and barangay officials and other stakeholders, which commences with the Child or Youth Find Activities on January 13 to 24,” Abcede said.
In the same memorandum, Abcede cited the DepEd Order No. 2 series of 2014 issued by DepEd Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro, the regional office should ensure that all public elementary and secondary schools will be prepared for the conduct of the early registration which targets five - year olds to ensure their enrolment in kindergarten, and all six - year olds to ensure that they are enrolled in Grade 1 come June.
Abcede also stressed that aside from the regular pupils and students, priority consideration should be given to out - of - school children/youths, disadvantaged groups of indigenous peoples, street children, children and youth with disabilities, and even adults between 18 to 30 years old who should be encouraged to finish at least basic education.
“We want to guarantee the children’s enrolment in their preferred education delivery system, either formal through alternative delivery mode (ADM) or alternative learning system (ALS)," Abcede said.
The measure also aims to prepare the schools in making the necessary adjustments and addressing potential resource gaps in time for the opening of classes in June by collaborating with the local government units, barangay officials, parent - teacher associations (PTAs), civil society/civic organizations and business sector, Abcede added.
Abcede also added that high school principals and staff shall have to work with the punong barangays to identify elementary graduates who either have not enrolled in high school or dropped out of school, in order to ensure their early registration and appropriate program interventions could be planned.
The DepEd Bicol regional office will be deploying to the members of the regional communications team to oversee the implementation of specific activities in the registration process in order to provide strong support during the consultative meetings or dialogues with the stakeholders(MAL/JJJP/RTBañas-DepEd5/PIA5)
