VIRAC, Catanduanes, Jan. 23, (PIA)- The provincial government of Catanduanes will be distributing relief goods before the end of this month to soem areas of the province devastated by the recent typhoon Yolanda .
Catanduanes Governor Araceli B. Wong has directed the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) to distribute of remaining 184 sacks of food packs consisting of rice, cans of sardines and sausages, milk and coffee; and other non-food items, including used clothing, 57 pairs of boots, 48 raincoats, 35 helmets and 51 pairs of gloves to families that were affected by typhoon Yolanda.
According to Wong, she will make sure that the relief packages will be given to deserving beneficiaries whose names are yet to be determined by PSWDO.
Around 3,000 family food packs costing about P1.8M is also bound for distribution to all 11 municipalities under the Food for Work program which will be given only after the beneficiaries have rendered some service to their barangay as defined by the LGU.
Wong also prodded the PSWDO to give P5,000 worth of housing materials to those whose houses had been completely damaged by Yolanda along the municipalities of Bato, Baras and Gigmoto.
