LEGAZPI CITY, Jan. 20 (PIA) – The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD5) and provincial government of Albay will lead today at the Peñaranda Park here a prayer service in solidarity to the President Benigno S. Aquino’s call for all Filipinos to be a “One Nation in Prayer”.
OCD Bicol regional director Raffy Alejandro said the prayer service in the province will join the nationwide “One Nation in Prayer “ to be led by the President in Malacanang at 5:00 pm today to remember the lives lost to the tragic incidents of 2013 and to thank God for the county which upon His Guidance remains strong and resilient.
“Our country faces so many challenges, including several natural and man-made disasters and calamities which claimed thousands lives, destroyed livelihood and dampen our spirit to live. Yet, with all the catastrophes we had been into and new challenges we are now up to, there remain a lot of things we should be grateful for as we aspire for a better 2014,” he said.
Alejandro said,” we seek anew the Divine Guidance as we move forward anew as one nation to help rebuild the communities raved by disasters and the country as one in relent pursuit for a better life for all Filipinos.
He furthered, “the communal prayer service encourages everyone to unite and to stay strong and positive in all aspect of our lives and maintain a productive lifestyle.”
Team Albay-OCD5 will converge anew in this activity to show solidarity with the entire nation in prayers.
In Malacanang, President Aquino will lead representatives of communities affected by the standoff in Zambaoanga, earthquake in Bohol and typhoon Yolanda in Samar and Leyte.
Also to join the President are religious leaders of Manila Archdiocese, Imam Council of the Philippines, Iglesia ni Cristo, Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches; members of the Congress, government officials, members of civil society, among others President Aquino called on all citizens to pause in prayer and join the “One Nation in Prayer” in their respective homes, communities, places of work and worship.
Meanwhile, the Naval Forces Southern Luzon (Navforsol) meanwhile will hold similar activity at their headquarters in Barangay Rawis, this city to be led and participated in by officials and personnel, along with dependents and guests.
The nationwide prayer service will also be replicated in all units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) simultaneously across the country. The service will include singing of Praise Songs, Ecumenical Prayer, maessage from the Commander and lighting of candles. (MAL-PIA5/Albay)
