NAGA CITY, Nov. 20 (PIA) --- Five lucky public elementary schools in Camarines Sur will have a chance to win a set each of the GPnoy Sattelite TV System, comprised of a satellite dish, receiver and a television, during the fun walk fund raising campaign initiated by GNN TV48 Naga.
GNN TV48 Naga, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) Camarines Sur, will stage the “Lakaw para sa Kaakian” or Walk for the Children on December 15, at 5:00 o’clock in the morning commencing at the Basilica Minore compound, Balatas Road, going to Plaza Quezon in this city.
GNN managing director and station manager of Global News Network Channel Naga Alfredo Perdon recently inked a memorandum of agreement with DepEd Camarines Sur, represented by division superintendent Dr. Gilbert Sadsad, providing the parties respective commitments to spearhead the fund raising drive and provide the equipment to beneficiaries which will be chosen by the DepEd.
“Lakaw Para sa Kaakian 2013 – A Christmas Walk for a Cause” aims to provide opportunity to school children, particularly those studying in far flung areas, to have access to educational programs in television and keep them abreast of the latest news and information, not only in the Philippines, but also around the globe.
Perdon said that his personal and station’s advocacy pursues improvement of children and promote and wellness in partnership not only with private organizations but also with government agencies.
This first time ever event, a Christmas Walk for a Cause, according to Perdon will be held in time for the celebration of Christmas.
Sadsad stated that he is encouraging all schools to take part in this noble endeavor.
“All schools and districts are encouraged to participate in this Lakaw para sa Kaakian as gesture of love and commitment for a bright future of all the school children,” Sadsad said in an interview.
The five school-recipients of the GPnoy Sattelite TV System will be chosen based on access to internet and electricity supply, should also be categorized as “performing” schools as determined by the National Achievement Test (NAT) results, and with outstanding leadership record.
DepEd also decided that schools that will receive the digital pack should belong to geographically inaccessible and depressed area in the province of Camarines Sur. (MAL/LSM-PIA5/Camarines Sur)
