Bicol named among 6 key areas for the celebration of Development Policy Research Month

LEGAZPI CITY, Sept 5 (PIA) -- Bicol Region is one of the selected areas for the activities in the Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) this September to disseminate this year's celebration's key messages of the through various platforms.

Regional office of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) will spearhead series of press conferences or kapihans on DPRM’s key messages with the theme "Making Health More Inclusive In A Growing Economy"

DPRM is an annual celebration mandated by Presidential Proclamation 247, signed by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in 2002.

The observance of DPRM aims to increase people’s awareness and appreciation on the value and importance of policy research in nation-building.

For Bicol, PIA 5 has already coordinated with the regional officials of the Department of Health (DOH) and Philippine Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) and other stakeholders, incduing the media for the upcoming interfacing.

This city is among the other five areas namely Baguio City, Cebu City, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro and Davao which were identified to participate in disseminating DPRM’s key messages through various platforms.

 “We are available as guests for the activities related to DPRM,” DOH Bicol assistant regional director Napoleon Arevalo told the PIA.

Philhealth and NEDA also expressed commitment to the initiatives of the PIA.

Earlier, Gilberto Llanto, president of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) which is under the supervision of NEDA, sent a letter to PIA for its participation in the implementation of the publicity and dissemination aspects of the DPRM.

PIDS meanwhile serves as the lead government agency in the annual celebration of DPRM in its role as the country’s leading think tank of the government.(MAL/JJJP-PIA5/Albay)
