VIRAC, Catanduanes, Aug 12 (PIA) -- As part of the Police-Community Relation month celebration last month, Philippine National Police (PNP) here named Catanduanes’ best police officer.
Senior Police Officer 2 Michael Rima was awarded as the Best Police Community Relations Police Non-Commissioned Officer in the celebration’s culminating program on July 29, 2013 at Camp Francisco Camacho.
According to Police Inspector Virgilio Samas, officer-in-charge of the Police-Community Relations Office, the recognition aims to provide positive outlook to policemen in dealing with the citizenry.
Samas added that the 18th PCR celebration with the theme: “Serbisyong Makatotohanan at Matatag na Ugnayan ng Pambansang Pulisya at Mamamayan Tungo sa Tuwid na Daan,” aimed to strengthen the partnership of the citizens and policemen in solving crimes in the community.
He said that Rima bagged the award due to his ways of dealing with the community and maintaining peace & order and public safety as well as timely submission of reports and his outstanding performance as a police officer.
Meanwhile, also among those who were given award were Epifanio Linan, Jr., Calatagan barangay chairman; Edna A. Bagadiong & Arlene O. Bagadiong from the media sector; and Rev. Fr. Jose Laudemer A. Gapaz, Chairman of National Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) and Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV).
According to PNP Provincial Director Eduardo Chavez, the awardees were chosen due to their invaluable support to the Catanduanes Police Provincial Office in their fields of expertise which contributed to the attainment of the overall mission and objectives of PNP.
PD Chavez also led the different activities during the entire duration of the celebration including a tree-planting activity, basketball game, feeding program and the closing program. (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
