VIRAC, Catanduanes, August 12 (PIA)- As part of its campaign to eliminate "epal" in implementation of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V held a provincial orientation cum dialogue with Liga ng mga Barangay Chapter Presidents today, August 7, 2013 at Kemjie Hotel, Virac, Catanduanes.
Bawal Ang Epal Dito campaign deals with the issues of external pressures and misconception of the beneficiaries about the involvement of politicians in the implementation of Pantawid Pamilya.
In guidance of DSWD Circular# 24 issued on January 7, 2013, the dialogue aims to intensify the "Bawal ang Epal Dito" (BAED) Campaign of the department.
The activity is also in connection with the upcoming barangay elections which seeks to safeguard the rights for free and honest election of the beneficiaries while protecting the integrity of its programs to include the safety and independence of its workers.
According to Emily Mendoza, DSWD 4Ps provincial coordinator, it also seeks to empower the beneficiaries to know their rights and to be vigilant of individuals and/or groups who plan to use the program to push their political agenda.
At present, the province have around 15,000 beneficiaries of 4Ps. (MAL/EAB/ PIA Catanduanes)
