NAGA CITY, Aug. 15 (PIA) -- The National ICT Councils Confederation of the Philippines (NICP) is all set for the holding of a two-day Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Roadshow dubbed the 2013 Next Wave Cities ICT Roadshow starting Thursday, August 15, at the Avenue Plaza Convention Center here.
The ICT roadshow, held in coordination with the International Business Processing Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) and the ICT@Bicol Council, endeavors to gather all information technology-Business Processing Management (IT-IBM) advocates and leaders, small and medium entrepreneurs, students, graduates related to IT-BPM, LGU’s and other government workers and all ICT stakeholders in an event which would highlight the capacity, readiness and effectiveness of the Bicol Region, particularly the City of Naga and the province of Camarines Sur as investment destination.
ICT@Bicol Council chairman E.Daniel de Leon stated that this is a very rare opportunity for the Bicolanos as many would wish to be the venue of the ICT Roadshow but only few, including Naga City was given the chance to host this momentous event.
“Of the many destinations in the country, the organizers have chosen this city as one of top ten ICT roadshow venue for this year. We are fortunate that speakers from prominent government and ICT industry players will be here in Naga to grace this significant occasion. This roadshow will give us countless opportunities to venture in ICT million-dollar industry and help us generate employment,” De leon said in an interview.
Under the theme “Bringing ICT Opportunities to Countryside Filipino talents,” the Congress is also consistent to the ICT roadmap that President Benigno Aquino III is pursuing in line with its modernization plan. Dubbed as the Philippine Digital Strategy 2011-2016, this approach recognizes that ICT increasingly brings and infuses all parts of the economy with the technology and recognizes that there is hardly a part of society that is not influenced by the digital revolution.
De Leon stated that the primary focus of the event is to bring together the ICT industry players to discuss and present opportunities in the IT-BPM sector entrepreneurship, careers and to enable small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to adopt digital commerce.
“This is a big opportunity for Bicol to highlight the capacity and readiness of the region, province and city, as an ICT investment destination and IT-BPM hub. We want to explore areas of opportunities, networking, complementation and common strategies and promote the IT-BPM sector as attractive career choices for entrepreneurship, career development and advancement in the NWCs,” De leon added.
Invited distinguished speakers and discussants include the President of the Animation Council of the Philippines (ACPI) , Benjie Marasigan, Jr., President and CEO of Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) Jose Mari P. Mercado, and the President Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), Benedict Hernandez.

Lauchangco, DMD, President Health Information Management Outsourcing Association of the Philippines (HIMOAP) and Joey Gurango, President of the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA).
